Dr. William Wever

At the age of 10, Dr. Wever knew that he wanted to become a dentist.  The path toward realizing this goal took a few twists and turns just like any good book you read or movie you might see on the big screen but by the age of 32,  that once frightened ten year old boy who remembers many painful dental visits while growing up in Guatemala, achieved his dream.

William (or Willy as he is known by most), was born in rural Iowa and grew up from the age of 3 through 18, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.  After high school graduation he returned to Iowa and enrolled in the University of Iowa to pursue his lifelong desire to become a dentist.  He graduated in 1990 from the University of Iowa with a degree in Physics. After 8 years in the nuclear energy industry as a Control Room Engineer, he returned to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry with his wife, Sue, and two sons, Wesley and Maxwell as his cheering squad.  In June of 2002 he graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry with his DDS.

After dental school Willy joined the practice of Dr. Heather Heddens in Columbus Junction, Iowa, and in January 2003 he took over the practice from Dr. Heddens. Willy has been blessed to serve the residents of the Columbus Community since 2002.  With Spanish as his second language, he has also been able to serve the Hispanic community in Southeast Iowa. Dr. Wever enjoys fishing, hunting, biking and spending time with his family. He has recently started flying a Powered Paraglider (PPG).  He and his wife also spend time each year volunteering at an orphanage in Manzanillo, Mexico, providing care for children in the dental clinic, which they helped construct in 2013.
